Clothespin Wreath

Mike RiessAdvent Wreath, News

Materials needed:
  • spring-type clothespins
  • construction paper that is the same color as your church’s Advent candles
  • yellow construction paper
  • glue
  • artificial wreath (or roping about 24 inches per wreath cut and formed into a circle with ends hooked together)
  • other decorations / ribbon you wish to place on the wreath.
Preparation:

For each learner, cut four strips of construction paper ½ inch x 3 ½ inch. Use colors that are similar to the ones you use for your church’s Advent wreath. Have four spring-type clothespins for each child / family.

Cut and glue construction paper strips onto one side of each clothespin. Cut flames out of yellow construction paper and place a small amount of glue on the inside of the paper strip at the end that is not the clip and glue the paper flame onto the candle at that point.

Clip one “candle flame” to the wreath each Sunday.
